World Accommodating Cult

World Accommodating Cults are a part of the cult typology which was developed by Wallis (1984) which aims to identify the unique characteristics of each cult type. World accommodating cults tend to be offshoots of major churches or denominations which tend to neither accept or reject the world they just live within it. The cult focuses on developing spirituality rather than focusing on existential questions about life and religion. An example of a world accommodating cult is Subud which focuses on developing its follower’s spiritual health using meditation techniques as a group and individually.
