Secularisation is increasingly difficult to define due to the theory being continuously revised. This theory simply refers to the decline of religious thinking and influence over individuals. Religious ceremonies have steadily decreased showing the impact of secularization on marriage. For example; in 2013 172,254 civil ceremony marriages (non-religious) were conducted accounting for 72% of marriages.
