In contrast to endogenous privatisation there has been direct and actual privatisation with academies and free schools (and FE colleges) run by private corporations/companies/trusts and boards rather than by the government. There has been a growth in private companies providing educational services (such as Tutor2U!) and private companies running examination boards. This trend is supported by the New Right which sees it as more efficient and innovative and likely to drive up standards.
