Neoliberalism (Education)

Neoliberalism refers to an economic theory that favours free markets and minimal government intervention in the economy. It is the economic theory of the New Right (alongside a neo-conservative social philosophy) and was to the fore during the Thatcher government of the 1980s and is still a dominant ideology today. In terms of education, it promotes marketisation policies and transferring services into the private ownership rather than government control.
