Gender is the social construction of the differences between males and females based on the individual’s biological genitalia. The concept of gender can be confused with the individual biological genitalia, which is otherwise known as the individual’s sex. Gender as a social concept has become increasingly complex in modern societies with the rise of open identifying non-binary and sexually fluid individuals.
