Demographics refers to the study of the population and how this changes over time. This will involve the analysis of crime rates, mortality rates, fertility rates, birth rates, marriage rates, divorce rates and religiosity. Data that is used when analyzing trends and patterns in society is collected by official agencies like the Office for National Statistics.
