'Young face job despair'
18th May 2020
This article from BBC News paints a bleak picture of some of the impacts of the coronavirus on young people in respect to their jobs and training.
According to the research compiled by the Resolution Foundation think-tank, young people face a tougher chance of getting a job and this will affect lower-skilled workers and graduates the most. The research also highlighted that during the last recession (following the 2008 financial crisis) people with fewer qualifications were more likely to be negatively effected. One solution they recommend is for the government to focus on supporting apprenticeships (vocational education).
The article and and the research by Resolution Foundation could be used for a number of topics within sociology, including: Work, Poverty and Welfare, Education and stratification.
