Will the new Cabinet be more representative of British society?

Under new Prime Minister Liz Truss, the incoming cabinet will be increasingly ethnically-diverse. This article from The Guardian could be useful to evaluate the existence of institutional racism in Britain, and potentially to support the functionalist idea of meritocracy. However, it can be challenged with Marxist ideas about social class, as further research suggests that British politics continues to be dominated by the wealthy.
As the article asks, although there might be greater ethnic representation within the Conservative party, to what extent does this influence the development of social policy?
