Technology in India
22nd October 2019
India is one of the world's largest internet users, with approximately 630 million having access to online services.
One of the reasons for this is the relative cost to use mobile data, an average user consumes more than 9GB of data per month and many mobile plans are cheap to purchase.
Figures released from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, however, show a digital divide with approximately 25.3% of rural populations without access to the internet, despite 66% of the population living in rural areas.
