Social Media Content
26th March 2019
The following article from BBC News explores the efforts that some social media companies are making to remove certain content about the attack.
50 people died and many were injured in the attack in Christchurch and a number of social media sites such as YouTube and Reddit have taken steps to remove content, but have expressed shock at the speed in which some posts are being spread.
(I am aware of the sensitive and upsetting nature of the content about this story and therefore chose not to discuss the attacker and rather focus on the involvement of the media).
The article could be used for The Media unit (new media).
