Media use in the UK
3rd October 2018
A survey by ComRes has found that the average UK adult spends over 600 hours a year (that’s 26 days) watching on-demand TV. Online platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime TV and BBC iPlayer are the most commonly used to watch TV. Social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram are used for approximately 12 hours a week.
The report highlights the increased use of technology as well as making links between hours used and physical activity. Of the 2,076 UK adults surveyed, 27% of adults were described as ‘physically inactive’, that is, they spend less than 30 minutes a week doing moderate exercise.
