A report by UK Confidential Enquiry into Maternal Deaths in 2019 blamed discrimination and cultural barriers behind the reason for higher rates of maternal risks during pregnancy and childbirth.

This report led the charity, Birthrights to conduct a deeper investigation into this area and they have called on the different groups to provide details about their experiences, including parents. The report is due to be published next year.

This article could be used for the Health unit (racism, health outcomes).
