High-profile women want action to stop online abuse

A number of high-profile women have signed an open letter asking social media platforms to make changes in how they tackle online abuse.
The former Australian prime minister, Julia Gillard has said that she has regularly receives "highly gendered and ugly social media, including the circulation of pornographic cartoons".
The letter also highlights that online abuse is worse for marginalised groups such as Asian and black women.
