Globalisation and the Internet

Nothing much to report today, having left LA and moved up the coast to Carpinteria. But just a quick reflection on the internet. I’m enjoying using the wireless connections around here. And it’s great to be able to wake up in California, log on to the net and have a read of the British newspapers. That really does shrink distance and in doing that, change social relations in many ways. Culture for one thing - for some, there are more opportunities to live in different places and yet still retain many elements of one’s original culture. Of course, the internet isn’t the only factor that enables that, but it is one of latest factors.
