Gender bias in Japan
4th October 2018
A video from Bloomberg about gender bias in Japan’s workforce.
The Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced a goal of job creation for more women in the economy, known colloquially as ‘Womenomics’. However, research has found that many of the jobs created have been in low paid, part-time work. This video also comes on the back of the scandal of one of Japan’s top medical schoolssystematically blocking female applicants from entering.
The video could be used for the following units: Culture and Identity, Work, Poverty and Welfare, Global Development and Stratification and Differentiation.
