'Elitist curriculum not serving white working classes'

It had been argued that the 'elitist and competitive' education system in the UK does not support white working class pupils.
Professor Dianne Raey suggests that by looking at the history of education we can understand further whether "the intentions (of the education system) was to educate and empower working class children [and] a narrow, elitist, exclusive curriculum does not work".
This article could be used for the Education unit (social class, relative deprivation).
