Doing good
28th February 2020
This video from The Economist looks at how people can 'do good' or be effective altruists.
The video follows the story of a young American woman who is donating one of her kidneys. In most cases, kidney donations are taken from people who have just died, but in this case the woman does not know who will receive her donated kidney.
This video does not link easily to one of the key topics in the sociology specification, but it could provide a starting point for a discussion about charity and government policy making (who should be the first point of call for supporting those in need).
