Divided Cities: Cuba

Sarah Best

29th November 2019

This video from The Guardian explores why taxi drivers in Havana, Cuba earn more than doctors.

One of the reasons for this difference is due to the socialist economic system in place in Cuba that is at odds with many capitalist 'jobs' in the country. Public workers and those who work in private enterprises are paid in different currencies.

A useful video to explore the differences between social classes and political systems (Culture and Identity, Work, Poverty and Welfare).
