Covid-19: is working from home really the new normal?
9th July 2020
This video from The Economist examines the impact of Covid-19 on the way in which many people work.
For those who are able to continue their jobs whilst working remotely (mostly those living in wealthier countries and/or employed as 'knowledge workers' e.g., people working in tech), questions have been asked about if there is any need for people to return to a central office place once social distancing has been relaxed.
This video could be used for Work, Poverty and Welfare (organisation and control of the labour process, including the division of labour, the role of technology, skill and de-skilling), Families and Households (gender roles), and The Media (the new media and their significance for an understanding of the role of the media in contemporary society).
