China's new 'tang ping' trend aims to highlight pressures of work culture
14th June 2021
A new trend in China on social media is believed to highlight some of the work pressures in society, particularly on young people.
'Tang ping' refers to 'lying flat', which is the idea that people need to unwind from their work and not continually strive for achievements. It is not believed to symbolise that someone is lazy, rather that they do not want to overstretch themselves.
