Channel 4 News: Jordan Peterson

The following video from Channel 4 News is the full interview between journalist Cathy Newman and the clinical psychologist Jordan Peterson.

I found this a riveting but at times an uncomfortable viewing and after its broadcast some of the questioning by Newman was criticised by viewers (at its most extreme and disturbing, Newman received verbal and physical threats).

In an ever-seemingly polarised media, perhaps this type of discourse is not just important but also crucial to open debate? Surely, it is when views are ignored or seen as irrelevant that it is when they may become something more extreme?

Newman and Peterson discuss issues such as masculinity, feminism and gender.

Following the interview and hearing of the threats aimed at Newman, Peterson publicly stated that he did not endorse them. This video has a number of sociological links and to the topics: Media, Culture and Identity, Families and Household, Work, Poverty and Welfare.
