Romanian Orphan Studies
Romanian orphan studies have been conducted to investigate the effects of institutionalisation on children who spent time in poor quality Romanian orphanages in the 1990s. For example, Rutter et al. examined a group of 165 Romanian orphans adopted by British families and compared them to a control group of 52 British children adopted at about the same time.
