Distortions
Cognitive distortions are inaccurate or exaggerated thought patterns that are unsupported. People with anorexia often show distorted thinking about food, weight, and body image. Examples of distortions include catastrophizing (e.g. believing that if they gain weight, no one will like them), or all-or-nothing thinking (e.g. believing that they are a failure because they ate too much in a day).
