Dispositional Explanations: Aggression

Dispositional explanations for institutional aggression, in the context of prisons, suggest that aggression occurs as the result of individual characteristics that prisoners bring into the institution. One example is the Importation Model, which suggests that prisoners bring (import) their own social histories and personality traits into the prison and this influences their behaviour.
