Cognitive Distortions

Cognitive distortions refer to patterns of negative or exaggerated thought, which can reinforce maladaptive behaviour. Two cognitive distortions, which have been researched in relation to offending behaviour, are hostile attribution bias (interpreting the actions of others as being hostile) and minimalisation (playing down the severity of the circumstances that you are in).
