Psychology on the box…Week beginning 18th October
16th October 2014
There are three very interesting psychology related to be aware of this week...
On Tuesday, at 8pm BBC3 there is a programme called 'Free Speech: Is my mental health a problem? This is a live debate around the stigma and difficulties that people with mental health meet. Although this is not directly related to any specification, it still is worth recording. There may be some informative commentary and myth shattering debate. As it's live, the content is unknown but it is worth a watch.
Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners on 4Seven at 7pm on Thursday could be used to look at understanding the condition. Are the people filmed likely to be diagnosed?
If you teach the aggression topic there is a programme on BBC3 on Friday at 9pm which could provide some in-class stimulus. It is called Knife Crime ER:Reggie Yates 's Extreme South Africa. It gives some insight into the treatment of victims and how they have got caught up in violence. It's not going to be easy viewing, but you could maybe use some clips as a talking point for the theories of aggression?
As always....if you spot any psychology related programmes let us know! We try to keep on top of them...but the odd one is bound to slip under our radar!
