Psychology on the box…Week beginning 13th December
12th December 2014
The TV programming is now flooded with all thing Chrstmassy...and why not? That does mean there are less documentaries and programmes containing content that might be helpful to you. Focus therefore has to go to the films that are scheduled and this week there is a cracker ( pardon the pun)Good Will Hunting is on Film 4 on Sunday at 9pm and stars the late Robin Williams with Matt Damon as Will Hunting. Will is exceptionally bright but works as a caretaker in the university. He's had a very difficult life and has an attachment disorder as a consequence. Robin Williams' character takes him under his wing. It is brilliant and is one to flag up to your students. There is room for discussion of the film in class around the attachment topic and, even if you don't use it in any other way than to tell them to watch it, it's the kind of film everyone should see at some point. You can probably tell I'm a fan....
