Psychology on the box is back for 2015…
11th January 2015
Now the festive season is over, TV programmes have become a little more varied. This week there are documentaries galore!
On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday there is a serial documentary scheduled called ‘Horizon: What’s the right diet for you?’ The New Year focus is on bespoke diets, but the programmes also cover food preference and genetic influences on eating behaviour. This could be extremely useful for if you’re teaching Eating Behaviour at A2. The three parts are all on BBC2 at 9pm on consecutive nights.
On Wednesday at 10pm, BBC3 there is ‘Russell Brand: End the Drugs War’. This is a documentary focussing on addiction and trafficking of drugs. As it contains footage of addicts talking about their habits, it could provide some useful clips for lessons or background to the topic of Addictive Behaviour at A2.
Finally, this week, there is ‘Bring Back Borstal’ (Wednesday, ITV, 10.40pm) which is the first of a series where young offenders experience a recreation of a borstal centre as punishment for their crimes. This is pure behaviourism in action and as such could be useful at AS and A2 level. It could also provide a resource for Forensic Psychology topics at A2 on various specifications.
Let us know if you spot any other programmes scheduled for the week which you think could provide a useful resource…we will put a shout out!
