Psychology on the box .... week beginning 28th July
28th July 2014
The TV is awash with the Commonwealth Games this week, and although great to watch, links to the specification are tenuous! There is however one programme that may be of interest to you….
On ITV3 at 10pm tonight and Tuesday night there is the drama ‘See No Evil: The Moors Murders. This is a two part drama, not a documentary, but tells the story of the relationship and crimes of Ian Brady and Myra Hindley.
This would be useful in terms of clips,( or a library loan for students) for not just the forensic section of the new specification, but also with regard to the approaches. There have just been 3 female serial killers in the UK in the last 60 years, and so why or who led Myra Hindley to commit the crimes is tackled to some extent in this drama. Biology? Social learning? Perfect for a student discussion.
A note of caution though… Any coverage of these crimes can be tough to watch … it would be worth giving a warning first if watched in class at all.
