Going to the Gym is Dangerous for Mental Health

Finally, Psychologists have provided an excuse for skipping the gym and while it may be good for physical health, recent research suggests that it can lead to body dysmorphia.
A new study claims that exposure to muscular physiques could lead to a distorted view of body image in young males and females. The Australian study examined people’s response to images of various body types.
The study confirmed previous findings that exposure to low body fat images results in ‘average’ bodies appearing ‘fatter’, but also found that exposure to images with high muscularity results in ‘average’ bodies appearing ‘skinny’. Therefore, what people consider as normal changes as a result of their exposure to different characteristics.
