A2 Hot Spot Number 5: Don’t skimp!

It will depend on which topic you do as to whether this will affect you, but we are not going to know until we see the paper… This is just a short hint to ensure you maximise your marks…

When you open the paper on Tuesday and locate the three sections you are going to answer you may find you have three essays to write, all 24 marks…. or possibly some ‘split’ questions. The timing doesn’t change, whether they are split questions or one single essay. You should spend 30 minutes on each section.

If your questions are split within that section you need to make sure you spend long enough on all sections…. Maybe that seems obvious?.... However, each year there are students who spend little time on a short AO1 question and rush ahead with the second part which is sometimes worth more. 4 marks at A2 requires more than 4 marks at AS. Be as strict with your timing as you can…don’t skimp!
