A tremendously useful list
15th June 2014
The following link landed in my twitter feed earlier https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFDE868BCF5...It is a list of super useful videos of TED talks that might help delivery of the A level and beyond. There are some heavyweights in terms of the Psychology world on there, such as Loftus and Zimbardo, but rummaging around through the list it is apparent that there are other ones that may be worth a listen and may inform the debates and approaches understanding of students alongside spec specific content.
Here are a few suggestions...
Jim Fallon: Exploring the mind of a killer....HOw about using this as a discussion tool for the nature/ nurture or free will/ determinism debates?
Like wise, Annie Murphy Paul: What we learn before we're born can also inform the nature/nurture debate.
Kelly McGonigal: How to make stress your friend is worth a watch too.
Indeed, looking through there are many which would stretch and challenge some students. It is always useful to use an alternative medium in class and the bite size nature of TED talks makes them perfect for a class.
Have a little look through. This time of year is a chance to search out resources and with the new specs on the horizon, this year it's even more on our minds!
