European Commission
The European commission (the commission) is the executive body of the EU. It is superior to national governments and responsible for proposing legislation, implementing decisions, upholding the EU treaties and managing the day-to-day business of the EU. Members of the Commission swear allegiance to the EU, not to their own country.
