Your fantasy Cabinet

Ruth Tarrant

20th September 2016

Here's a fun lesson idea to teach students about Cabinet at the same time as building some knowledge about former politicians, based on the BBC's Fantasy Cabinet concept.

The BBC page suggests a previously well-known politician to be appointed as the Minister for specific departments, for example, Michael Portillo for Transport, David Cameron as Deputy PM, and David Blunkett for Work and Pensions. Who would you choose? Who would your students choose? And how would it differ if we operated an American-style system in which the Cabinet members didn't need to be elected politicians?
