Useful Biden article - and other sources
19th January 2022
Just posted on the BBC website, with charts and analysis. Plus, introducing PolitiFact
Alan Grant in his book, "The American Political Process" lists the following limits on presidential power:
- Political culture
- Congress
- The Supreme Court
- Constitutional amendments
- The mass media
- Pressure groups
- Public opinion
- Party opposition
- The bureaucracy
- The burdens of office
Given these restrictions it is a surprise that someone who is going to become an octogenarian during his time in office would want the job of POTUS. And not only that, why he would make such huge promises on the campaign trail.
So how is he getting on?

And there is this great website called PolitiFact that is keeping a scorecard on Biden: Biden Promise Tracker | PolitiFact
Previously they rated Trump and Obama on their campaign promises.
Trump: Trump-O-Meter: Tracking Trump's Campaign Promises | PolitiFact
Obama: Obameter: Tracking Obama's promises | PolitiFact
It's a great website, as they also fact checked their statements.
See here for Trump (no more fake news!): PolitiFact | Donald Trump
And Obama: PolitiFact | Barack Obama
In fact, the PolitiFact website fact checks all sorts of other areas, covering everything from immigration, to covid, to LGBTQ rights. Check it out!
