The big news this morning is that Hillary has made a dramatic comeback by winning in three of four primaries

Hillary’s campaign is back on track following wins in Ohio, Texas and Rhode Island. Her rival, Barack Obama, won in Vermont.

These victories have not made a massive difference in terms of closing the gap in the number of delegates, but they have been crucial for Clinton who can now argue that the momentum is with her. If she had lost either of the two big states (Ohio or Texas) then she would have been under severe pressure to withdraw from the campaign—Democrat supporters were worried that a long drawn out battle within the party would detract from their attempt to defeat the Republicans in the general election in November.

The GOP have settled their race, with John McCain putting the contest to bed by crossing the threshold of delegates needed. His rivals dropped out last night, and put their support behind the Arizona Senator.
