How to Invent a Country
4th August 2022
Great podcast from the BBC
Not really a 'pure politics' entry, but thought I'd share this.
Having returned from Krakow, Warsaw, and Gdansk recently, I have developed in interest in the history of Poland. Based on my previous listens, the podcast for this series game up. Yes, it is historical, but understanding the history of a country's past certainly gives us a much deeper and richer understanding of its present politics.
The recent history of Poland chimes with much of the countries that were behind what we refer toastier the 'Iron Curtain', but what is especially fascinating is that for over a hundred years, the country as a state disappeared.
