Corbyn to be sworn in to the Privy Council
11th November 2015
Jeremy Corbyn is expected to be sworn in as a member of the Privy Council today. The Privy Council is a 500-member strong Council for the Queen. Members include all Cabinet members (past and present), leaders of the main political parties, the Speaker of the Commons, senior judges and others who have reached a "high level" in public office. As part of the swearing-in ceremony, Mr Corbyn (who is a declare lifelong republican) will have to kneel and swear allegiance to the queen - it will be interesting to see whether he is willing to do this!
