Love it or hate it, there is no getting away from it. The Quadratic Formula is the only way to solve some equations and you are not given it in the exam so you must memorise it. The best way to memorise it is to use it repeatedly. Then you need to know how to use it. Here's some videos showing it's use, there's plenty to learn so let's dive in.
Classroom lesson introducing the quadratic formula
Yay Math is an American teacher who has fun with his Maths class. Here he uses the formula to solve a quadratic that he had previously factorised at the start of the video, showing that the same answer can be found both ways. He then takes his class through two more examples that cannot be easily factorised and they use the formula to solve them. A fun class that asks all the questions of the teacher that you will want to ask yourself.
Make it equal to 0 before you start
Patrick shows clearly how to use the quadratic formula. This time there is a little rearrangement to do to the equation at the start as it needs to be equal to 0 to use the formula.
