John Finnemore on Legal Aid Changes
11th June 2013
This is just brilliant on the wrong-headedness of the Government's plans to make dramatic changes to legal aid. I try to avoid being political on this blog but the legal profession (including Crown Court judges) is pretty united in its opposition to the government's plans - as referred to in this Observer editorial.
A great discussion starter and a great way of making the issue really accessible for students. A transcript of John's piece is available here. A vital issue, put across in a way that will hopefully make your students laugh... what more could you ask for?
For balance, Chris Grayling makes his case for reform in the Gazette here. There's also a good debate on the issue on the Today Programme. The e-petition to save UK Justice is accessible here.
