Physical ill-health

Physical ill-health refers to conditions or diseases that affect the body and cause physical symptoms or limitations. It can be chronic or acute and can be caused by a variety of factors, including:

  • Genetics
  • Lifestyle choices (e.g. smoking, poor diet, lack of exercise)
  • Environmental factors (e.g. pollution, toxins)
  • Infectious diseases (e.g. influenza, HIV)

Common examples of physical ill-health include heart disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, and respiratory diseases. It's important to note that physical and mental health are closely linked - people with chronic physical conditions are at higher risk of developing mental health issues, and vice versa. Taking care of your physical health is important for maintaining good mental health, and taking care of your mental health can have positive effects on your physical health as well.
