Occupational Therapist

Occupational therapists (OTs) help people of all ages participate in the activities of everyday life by assessing their physical and mental abilities and providing interventions to improve them. Here are some of the key roles of an occupational therapist:

  • Evaluating a patient's physical and cognitive abilities and determining their ability to perform activities of daily living, such as dressing, bathing, and cooking.
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans to help patients improve their functional abilities.
  • Providing education and support to patients and their families to help them understand the impact of their condition and how to manage it.
  • Modifying environments to make them more accessible and safe for patients with disabilities or other conditions.
  • Providing assistive technology and adaptive equipment to help patients perform tasks more easily.
