This pack contains four resources to be used in the teaching of Component 3 Health and Wellbeing.

  1. Into Action: A Speed Dating Activity for Actions and Ways to Improve Health and Wellbeing. This resource is an interactive game requiring whole class participation. It supports student understanding of the types of actions that health care professionals could recommend to improve an individual’s health and wellbeing, alongside the ways that these actions support the improvement.
  2. What are Needs, Wishes and Circumstances? This resource is split into three activities which build in difficulty. It supports student understanding of and differentiation between needs, wishes and circumstances, which are a key element of C1 Person-centred approach. This resource will promote student success in the Component 3 external assessment and in particular, questions in the second half of the exam paper.
  3. Guess Who? The Physiological and Lifestyle Indicators Game. This activity is a health and social care take on the popular children’s game Guess Who? It provides students with a hands-on activity which can be used to both learn and test their knowledge of physiological and lifestyle indicators for the BTEC Tech Award Health and Social Care Component 3. Students will need to learn or recall knowledge of the different physiological indicators and lifestyle data and practise interpreting these.
  4. Practising Discuss Questions. In this activity students will examine short case studies like those used in Question 15 and Question 18 in the BTEC Tech Award Health and Social Care Component 3 external assessment. Students will practise identifying key points from the case study about the individual’s circumstances. They will then use these points to form an answer to the exam question provided.
