Infancy - HSC Unit 1 Human Lifespan Development
Last updated 4 Dec 2023
Infancy is a term used to refer to the first two years of a person's life. During this time, babies experience rapid growth and development in all areas of their lives - physical, cognitive, emotional, and social.
It's an incredibly important period for laying the foundation for future development and well-being. Some key milestones that typically occur during infancy include:
- Learning to roll over, sit up, crawl, and walk
- Learning to understand and communicate through speech and gestures
- Developing fine and gross motor skills
- Developing social and emotional skills, such as empathy and self-awareness
Infancy is a time of rapid change, and caregivers play an essential role in supporting and fostering the growth and development of infants during this crucial time.
