Foetal Alcohol Syndrome is the result of alcohol in the mother's blood which is passed to the foetus, via the placenta. It can affect a child’s development if their mother drinks alcohol in pregnancy.

Symptoms of Foetal Alcohol Syndrome

  • Head and facial features that are smaller in size
  • Behavioural issues

Effects of Foetal Alcohol Syndrome

  • Delayed cognitive development
  • Heart problems
  • Kidney problems
  • Problems with sight
  • Hearing defects
  • Poor balance and coordination
