Diabetes is a condition caused by high blood glucose levels.
Type 1 Diabetes
Type 1 diabetes happens when the body is unable to produce enough insulin. Insulin is a hormone that controls blood glucose.
Type 1 diabetes causes the glucose to become too high in the blood. Daily injections of insulin are required to manage type 1 diabetes.
Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes causes the glucose to become too high in the blood. It can be the result of age, a sedentary lifestyle and being overweight.
This can be managed by a change in lifestyle and medication.
