Cancer occurs when abnormal cells divide and create more abnormal cells. Thanks to technological advancements, many cancers can be treated if caught early.

Some individuals may have a greater risk of developing some cancers if they have inherited a gene, or they could be a carrier of a particular faulty gene.

Through research we now know that most cancers are due to a combination of environmental and lifestyle factors.

Cancer Prevention

Just under 50% of cancers can be prevented if changes are made to diet, exercise is increased, there is a reduction in alcohol consumption and a cessation of smoking.

Attending regular screening for cancers can also be a preventative measure.
