A number of biological factors that affect infancy.
Some biological factors that can affect infancy include:
- Genetics: Certain genetic disorders, such as Down syndrome or cystic fibrosis, can affect an infant's development and health.
- Prenatal exposure to drugs or alcohol: Exposure to certain substances before birth can have long-term effects on an infant's brain development and behavior.
- Premature birth: Infants born prematurely may have a higher risk of developmental delays and health problems.
- Low birth weight: Infants born with low birth weight may have a higher risk of health problems, such as respiratory issues and feeding difficulties.
- Infections: Infections, such as respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) or bacterial meningitis, can affect an infant's health and development.
