Taster Lesson on Empowerment

Liz Blamire

21st June 2022

This lesson on empowerment is fantastic if you need to fill a full lesson as part of your taster activities.

Students really enjoy watching young hospital volunteers getting to grips with working in healthcare and it is most suitable for Y11 students looking to study Health and Social Care post-16. It might be worth prefacing the PowerPoint with a short mind mapping or snowballing activity on what empowerment means, before getting stuck in.

This is an interactive activity designed to support student learning of specific responsibilities in health and social care. Students act as a mentor for a trainee shown on the video clips embedded in the PowerPoint and discuss how successful the trainee has been in empowering the service user.
