Keep the Cake Away!
20th January 2023
Chair of the Food Standards Agency, Professor Susan Jebb, caused controversy this week when she compared being surrounded by cakes in the workplace to passive smoking.
The Professor explained that we dismiss the importance of environment on our choices and that we should all aim to be 'supportive colleagues', encouraging one another to make healthy choices.
Cake typically contains high levels of fat, salt and sugar, all of which when eaten to excess, can cause a variety of problems, from weight gain and raised blood pressure, to increased insulin resistance. One way to make healthier choices, is to remove temptation.
